About Khanya Tented Camp

Khanya Tented Camp is where safari becomes more than a wildlife experience. Set within the Balule Private Nature Reserve, this intimate conservation-based camp strips away excess to bring you closer to the real rhythm of the bush, the wildlife that moves through it, and the field work that helps protect it.

Here, simple comfort meets active wilderness connection. Elephants move quietly through the bush, sundowners close the day, and evenings unfold around the fire beneath a starlit sky. With good food, hot showers, solar-powered comfort, and the sounds of the wild all around, Khanya offers more than a safari stay. It is a return to the purpose of the wild.

Accommodation

Tented Comfort in a Living Conservation Landscape

Khanya Tented Camp is built around the beauty of simplicity. The accommodation is intentionally understated, allowing the surrounding wilderness, wildlife movement, and conservation setting to remain the focus of the stay. Sturdy Meru-style tents, positioned near an active waterhole, offer a front-row seat to the daily movement of the bush. The main area remains relaxed and rustic, with a dining area, splash pool, and intimate firepit where guests can gather after days spent exploring, observing, and learning.

The tents are positioned to keep you close to the landscape, with views that remind you where you are: inside a living Greater Kruger ecosystem. Evenings are softly lit by solar power, creating a warm, low-impact camp atmosphere. Khanya Tented Camp operates on solar electricity as part of its lighter-footprint approach. Experiences may include guided game drives, bush walks, sundowner stops, stargazing, and conservation engagement, creating a stay that combines safari excitement with a clearer understanding of the wild.

Guests aged 16 and above are welcomed into a camp experience designed for travellers who want to listen more closely, look more carefully, and leave with more than photographs. At Khanya, the safari is only the beginning.

Experiences

Experience Conservation Beyond The Safari

Engage with the untamed wilderness at Khanya Tented Camp, where safari activities are connected to a deeper conservation story. Morning drives, bush walks, afternoon drives, and sundowner stops bring you into the landscape, while conservation engagement helps you understand the systems, pressures, and protection efforts behind the wildlife experience. Evenings around the boma fire create space for stories, reflection, and connection after a day in the field. Home-cooked meals, picnic lunches, and optional Olifants River boat cruises add variety to the stay, while the camp’s conservation focus gives each experience more context and meaning.

With strong views, rewarding wildlife encounters, and a commitment to preserving natural systems, Khanya Tented Camp shows how a small, intimate camp can offer both memorable safari moments and a more purposeful connection to the Greater Kruger wilderness.
