Mankwe Tented Retreat lies on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta, bordering the legendary Moremi Game Reserve, the oldest protected area in the Okavango. This is where dry woodland, open pans and riverine beauty come together to create a safari landscape full of contrast, movement and quiet drama.
The retreat is set within an expansive 85,000-hectare concession known as Mankwe, meaning “mother leopard” in Setswana. Guests also have access to a further 20,000 hectares of traversing along the Khwai River, opening the way to a broader Botswana safari experience across land, water and wilderness.
Intimate, authentic and beautifully wild, Mankwe Tented Retreat is a place to slow down and surrender to the setting. Elephants move quietly to the waterhole, birdlife fills the air, guests unwind beside the pools, and evenings unfold around the boma beneath Botswana’s night sky.

Accommodation
Accommodation at Mankwe Tented Retreat is designed around effortless comfort. The style is relaxed, natural and understated, allowing the surrounding mopane woodland and Botswana wilderness to remain the true centrepiece of the experience.
The retreat offers 10 spacious Meru-style tented suites, each raised on its own wooden platform with hardwood floors and a private viewing deck. From here, guests can look out over the surrounding wilderness and settle into the slower pace of safari life.
Each suite offers a king-size or twin bed configuration, with beds draped in mosquito nets. The en-suite bathroom includes a shower, flushing toilet, double vanities and a large floor-to-ceiling window that frames the bush beyond.
Inside, the suites include thoughtful comforts such as a tea and coffee station, hanging space, a standing fan, bedside lighting and a writing desk with wilderness views. For privately guided safaris, two additional en-suite guide or pilot tents are also available.
